This painting is a FINISHED product based on my dog's paw prints.

WHY and HOW?

Well - I thought if an Elephant can get noticed by throwing paint onto a canvas with his/her trunk and make a 'master piece' .. why couldn't I have my dog walk across my watercolor paper with watercolor paint on his paws and help him create a 'master piece'.

Now don't worry about my little guy - Watercolor paints are non-toxic but I wash his paws immediately after he has done his work! ..

A series of photos will show you the process I go thru and I'll explain each step in future blogs.

I hope you find this as fun as I did creating this different technique and concept of 'watercolor painting' - otherwise known as 'PAW-SCH' ..

I must say tho - this is the most difficult way of painting for me - reason being is that I have NO reference .. I have to stare at the paper for a long time - turning every which way to see how the paw prints 'speak' to me - what I mean is - can I SEE a pattern of paws that indicate flowers or butterflies, can I SEE the flow of color that is better on a particular angle than on another - I often just put the paper away for about a few hours - then go back to it with fresh eyes ...

So follow my journey and don't be afraid to ask questions!

My next post will show you HOW I prepare

Hello - and thanks for stopping by - I've been painting for the past 20+ years and STILL take weekly classes - I ONLY paint in watercolors and have no desire to try to any other medium
